SPOTLIGHT ON YOUR NEIGHBOURS

Matt Neudorf- Through the Lens

Watch McKinley Beach’s lnstagram and Facebook, as well as future Community Chronicles for McKinley Beach resident Matt Neudorf. A professional producer and hobby photographer, Matt captures the beauty around him in a way that makes you see it twice.

Matt, who has called McKinley Beach home for over a year, was drawn to the neighbourhood’s natural beauty, trail network, proximity to the lake, and the opportunity to be close to his family. He began his photography journey early, encouraged by his dad. What started as a way to document travel has evolved into a creative outlet.

Matt’s favourite subjects? Anything that catches his eye, especially the right light, angle, and intention. Around McKinley Beach, he loves capturing the lake at golden hour and the diverse wildlife.

Matt is the co-founder and producer of Afterburner Filmworks, specializing in cinematic brand storytelling and aerial cinematography. While his professional work is behind the scenes, his love of photography shines in his free time. Outside of work, Matt enjoys mountain biking, brewery hopping, and racing, along with Formula One Sundays and scenic drives through the Okanagan.

One of his most memorable photography adventures was a four-month motorcycle trip through Southeast Asia with his best friends. He’s also dreaming of a short film in Europe and Iceland, focusing on vintage Land Rovers-a passion he’s had for years.

Matt’s advice to new photographers? “Don’t be afraid to take a bunch of ugly photos. It can take twenty to get one great one. Be patient, stay consistent, and keep learning.”

For Matt, community is about shared interests and values, whether through the beach, Our Place, or neighbourhood events. Keep an eye out for more of Matt’s incredible work around McKinley Beach. It might just inspire you to see the community in a new light.
